The FBI reported that a posting on the MySpace.com site led to the arrest and subsequent guilty plea this week for bank robber.
According to the FBI, Wade Northington robbed Security Federal Bank in South Carolina of $3,924 on January 20, 2009. After surveillance photos were shown on television, a man notified authorities that he recognized the robber as Northington, who had stayed with him while visiting the area on the date of the robbery, but had since returned to Virginia.
Investigators learned that Northington, who had gunshot scar on his face, used MySpace.com, and updated his home page. There they discovered that Northington had posted the following message after the robbery: "One in the head still ain't dead!!!!!! On tha run for robbin a bank Love all of yall." Northington was arrested in Virginia nine days later.
Brilliant!
Northington can receive a fine of $250,000 and imprisonment for a minimum of seven years and a maximum of life, the FBI stated.
