Cisco reports earnings Aug. 5

Company expected to post another double digit drop in revenue

Cisco is set to report earnings on Aug. 5. Once again, the industry is hanging on what Cisco says about the market and the next quarter rather than dwelling on what happened this quarter, its fourth for fiscal 2009.

Wall Street expects another double digit drop in revenue. Consensus estimates point to an 18% dip but some optimists say it could come in under that -- like a decline of 16.5% to 17%.

It will be an interesting couple of weeks in the networking industry. Juniper reports its Q2 Thursday, July 23, and results are expected to be in line with guidance and estimates -- a revenue dip of about 13% from a year ago, but flat with Q1.
