Microsoft confirms release of "family pack" Windows 7 for homes with multiple PCs

Pricing not disclosed: W7 RTM code will ship next month

Microsoft confirmed it would release a rumored "family pack" of the Windows 7 Home Premium edition of the OS for households with multiple PCs. This would allow the installation of the operating system on as many as three PCs. Microsoft was mum on pricing of the pack. ISVs and IHV (independent hardware vendor) partners and developers with MSDN subscriptions will be able to download the English version of Windows 7 RTM from Microsoft Connect or MSDN on Aug. 6, the RTM code in other languages won't be available to partner program members to download until Oct. 1. Microsoft has promised that Windows 7 will be available for general release on October 22.
