Description: It's hard to believe that a 10 megapixel digital camera is now affordable and functional for "regular" photographers, those of us who just want great-looking photos of friends and family members. The FinePix J150W is a great camera with tons of features, yet small and compact enough to carry easily in a bag or in your pocket. The 10 megapixels and a wide zoom lens (28-140mm optical zoom lens, with 5x optical zoom ability) gave me very clear photos in my tests.

You can quickly change settings on the camera by turning a mode dial, with a nice touch added that a short description describing the mode comes up on the camera's 3-inch display. Settings include recording movies with sound, landscape mode, portrait setting, red-eye reduction, a "baby mode" that doesn't use a flash, and picture stabilization, which reduces the camera from shaking and blurring. I was very impressed with the digital zoom mode as well. With this mode I was able to take some very clear pictures of several birds that were far away, and the photos made it appear as if they were right in front of me. I was also able to take night-time shots of a full moon, and was amazed at how clear the photos were.

A framing grid on the display is very helpful if you have several subjects in your frame, and you want to make sure they're centered. The slideshow view mode is also very handy for showing off the pictures on the camera.

This is a great camera for a family on the go, or those of us who still haven't switched over to an all-digital camera. I think I may have just been converted.
