Agito Networks earlier this month launched the next-generation version of its RoamAnywhere Mobility Router. The router supports fixed-mobile convergence in the enterprise and uses both proactive and reactive metrics to deliver sub-100 millisecond handover of mobile voice between Wi-Fi and cellular networks. The new version adds security features to deliver voice outside the enterprise, expands support for additional PBX systems, adds least-cost routing, and comes with a "Dual Persona" capability so users can appropriately use a single mobile phone for both business and personal calls.
To enable secure off-campus mobility, the Secure Remote Voice uses a RoamAnywhere client with an application-layer SSL connection to secure voice over a Wi-Fi access point from non-enterprise networks. The security improvements include sub-100ms secure handover between Wi-Fi and cellular networks along with access to corporate directories without the need for a cellular data plan.
With the new release, Agito now supports Asterisk, Mitel, and ShoreTel PBX systems, adding to previous support for systems from Avaya, Cisco, Digium, Nortel, and the Microsoft OCS voice platform.
The new version also adds a feature called Dual Persona in which users “can mark contacts as personal or set the device to personal mode, so personal calls automatically route over the cellular network using the device’s cellular number,” according to the company’s announcement. The feature gives users the flexibility to use the device for personal calls, and the enterprise minimizes costs related to personal minutes routed over the enterprise network.
Finally, the company has added cellular least cost routing which uses patent-pending algorithms to determine how best to route cellular calls, enterprise calls and international calls. The company estimates that by re-directing international calls through the enterprise PBX with no user involvement, the Dynamic Least Cost Routing can reduce international charges by a factor of 10 or more for global workforces.Pricing for the RoamAnywhere solution starts at approximately $9,995 and it is available and through Agito’s channel partners.
