If you're a frequenter of LinuxWorld.com for Linux and open source news, don't adjust your browser color and font settings. The site relaunched last week under new ownership, as Network World took over the LinuxWorld.com domain.
Here's a brief description from the new LinuxWorld.com homepage on what's going on:
"While LinuxWorld.com was formerly produced by a licensee of International Data Group, the site is now owned and operated by IDG's Network World - drawing on IDG's broad information technology resources (see IDG.com) - and produced in conjunction with the IDG."
LinuxWorld.com will still be your main source of Linux and open source news, product reviews, opinions and forums.
The site now features new Research Centers, similar to the ones on the NetworkWorld.com site, where news and information is aggregated on specific topics relating to Linux technology: Applications, Data Center, Operating Systems and Security.
Whitepapers on Linux technology from vendors, researchers and industry technologists, as well as RSS feeds on Linux- and open source-related blogs are also new features on the Web site.
Some particular angles LinuxWorld.com will focus on are how trends and developments in Linux technology affect enterprises. Expect plenty of case studies on Linux deployments in business, schools, and other organizations, as well as reviews of tools for managing Linux servers and the latest Linux server operating system distributions. LinuxWorld.com will also focus heavily on providing information on how to secure a Linux- and open source-based enterprise as well.
But we're not going to just tell you what kinds of news and information you'll get at LinuxWorld.com; we want to know what you want to see on the site as well. So add you comments to the forum and let us know what you think.
