Women CEOs in Silicon Valley ... and then there were none

(Fair warning: this is an off topic post). Here's an interesting, if somewhat sad, fact from the San Jose Mercury News.

With this week's ouster of Diane Greene from the company she founded 10 years ago, there are now exactly zero women CEOs at the largest Valley tech firms. Now there are women in powerful positions (Cisco's CTO Padmasree Warrior, Oracle co-president and Chief Financial Officer Safra Catz, and HP Executive Vice President Ann Livermore).

But earlier this year, a Mercury News survey of the 150 biggest corporations in the Valley found only two women occupied the corner office: VMware's Greene and eBay's Meg Whitman, who stepped down from her post in March.
