Grisoft changes name to AVG Technologies
Grisoft yesterday said it has changed the name of its parent company to AVG Technologies N.V. AVG is its brand of antivirus software, said to be used by 66 million people around the world. The U.S.-based company that’s part of AVG will now be known as AVG Technologies USA, with the Cyprus and British companies also reflecting the AVG name change.
The company, founded in 1991 in Brno, Czech Republic, states it’s making the change to “enhance awareness of the AVG brand in the world” and has been acquiring AVG domains in multiple international markets as part of the transition to a new corporate identity.
