Storage in the Enterprise Newsletter: Symantec’s acquisition of Revivio takes it to the high-end of the storage world, 12/07/06
Last week, software giant Symantec added to its data protection portfolio by acquiring Revivio, a Massachusetts-based continuous data protection vendor, for an estimated $20 million. Revivio had been around for three years, and its considerable engineering talent had amassed at least 15 patents in the area of CDP. What the company didn’t have were customers – since its startup in 2001, only a dozen or so sites had installed a Revivio product and several IT shops reported they found the company’s CDP appliance highly functional but “pricey.” The company’s appliance lists for around $150,000.
