ThousandEyes, a firm that monitors network infrastructure, measures the UK internet for Network World UK each week, covering Monday at 12:01 UTC through Sunday at 23:59 UTC.

Here’s the latest data.

Week of 18 May-24 May 2020

ISPs. Outages at UK internet service providers (ISPs) fell 27.2 per cent compared to the previous week, with 8 in the UK versus 11 the prior week. Global ISP outages rose rose 0.9 per cent over the same period, from 223 to 225.

Cloud providers. UK cloud providers experienced 2 outages, up from 1 the prior week. Global outages rose 45.8 per cent, from 24 to 35 over the same period.

Collaboration apps. There was 1 outage in UK collaboration app provider networks, up from 0 the prior four weeks. Global outages fell 20 per cent in the same period, from 5 to 4.

Week of 11 May-17 May 2020

ISPs. Outages at UK internet service providers (ISPs) fell 36.4 per cent compared to the previous week, with 11 in the UK versus 15 the prior week. Global ISP outages rose fell 21.9 per cent over the same period, from 183 to 223.

Cloud providers. UK cloud providers experienced 1 outages, up from 0 the prior week. Global outages nearly doubled, from 13 to 24 over the same period.

Collaboration apps. There were 0 outages in UK collaboration app provider networks, the same as the prior three weeks. Global outages fell 16.7 per cent in the same period, from 6 to 5.

Week of 4 May-10 May 2020

ISPs. Outages at UK internet service providers (ISPs) rose 36.4 per cent compared to the previous week, with 15 in the UK versus 11 the prior week. Global ISP outages fell fell 29 per cent over the same period, from 236 to 183.

Cloud providers. UK cloud providers experienced 0 outages, the same as the prior week. Global outages rose 8.3 per cent, from 12 to 13 over the same period.

Collaboration apps. There were 0 outages in UK collaboration app provider networks, the same as the prior week. Global outages fell 14.3 per cent in the same period, from 7 to 6.

Week of 27 April-3 May 2020

ISPs. Outages at UK internet service providers (ISPs) fell 15.4 per cent compared to the previous week, with 11 in the UK versus 13 the prior week. Global ISP outages fell slightly: down 5.6 per cent over the same period, from 250 to 236.

Cloud providers. UK cloud providers experienced 0 outages, down 100 per cent from 2 the prior week. Global outages decreased 53.8 per cent, from 26 to 12 over the same period.

Collaboration apps. There were 0 outages in UK collaboration app provider networks, the same as the prior week. Global outages fell 50 per cent in the same period, from 14 to 7.

Week of 20 April-26 April 2020

ISPs. Outages at UK internet service providers (ISPs) rose 62.5 per cent compared to the previous week, with 13 in the UK versus 8 the prior week. Global ISP outages rose only slightly: up 3.3 per cent over the same period, from 243 to 250.

Cloud providers. UK cloud providers experienced 2 outages, up 100 per cent from 1 the prior week. Global outages increased similary, up 85.7 per cent from 14 to 26 over the same period.

Collaboration apps. There were 0 outages in UK collaboration app provider networks, versus 3 the prior week. Global outages rose 27.3 per cent in the same period, from 11 to 14.

Week of 13 April-19 April 2020

ISPs. Outages at UK internet service providers (ISPs) rose 33 per cent compared to the previous week, with 8 in the UK versus 6 the prior week. Global ISP outages rose even more: up 66 per cent over the same period, to 243.

Cloud providers. Only 1 outage occurred at UK cloud providers, down 67 per cent from 3 the prior week. Global outages also fell to 14, down by 26.3 per cent in the same period.

Collaboration apps. There were 3 outages in UK collaboration app provider networks, versus 0 the prior week. Global outages rose 22.2 per cent in the same period, to 11.

Week of 6 April-12 April 2020

ISPs. Outages at UK internet service providers (ISPs) declined 70 per cent compared to the previous week, with 6 in the UK versus 20 the prior week. By contrast, global ISP outages fell 38.4 per cent over the same period, to 141.

Cloud providers. Three outages occurred at UK cloud providers, the same number as for the prior week. By contrast, global outages fell 24 per cent in the same period, to 19.

Collaboration apps. There were no outages in UK collaboration app provider networks, versus a 100 per cent drop from 2 the prior week. Global outages fell 69 per cent in the same period, to 9.

Week of 30 March-5 April 2020

ISPs. Outages at UK internet service providers (ISPs) rose 80 per cent compared to the previous week, with 20 in the UK versus 11 the prior week. By contrast, global ISP outages fell 9.1 per cent over the same period, to 229.

Cloud providers. Three outages occurred at UK cloud providers, versus two the prior week, an increase of 50 per cent. By contrast, global outages rose 13.5 per cent in the same period, to 25.

Collaboration apps. Outages in UK collaboration app provider networks held steady at two last week, the same as the prior week. By contrast, global outages rose 260 per cent in the same period, to 29.
