BMC's JumpStart program will provide access to and support for Amazon Web Service clouds to run enterprise applications
Systems management company BMC has scored somewhat of a coup by announcing an expanded partnership with Amazon Web Services, which many consider the leading public cloud provider.
BMC will package and provide support for Amazon cloud services as part of its “JumpStart” offering, which will include Amazon Web Service instances, along with BMC software licenses and professional services. BMC says it’s aimed at supporting developers who may be launching business or web applications in Amazon’s cloud, including SAP, Oracle, MS SharePoint, as well as AWS Elastic MapReduce or DynamoDB, which are AWS database services.

In a press release issued by BMC, the company also said it will work with AWS “on deeper product integration and go-to-market activities.”
Terry Wise, head of worldwide partner ecosystem at AWS, said the news is an expansion of previous work the two companies have done together. “We are pleased to build on the existing relationship with BMC to continue serving the needs of enterprise customers by delivering solutions that combine BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management with the reliable, flexible, low-cost AWS Cloud. Working closely together at the field level will help us to address the governance and control requirements of our enterprise customers and provide solutions that meet their needs.”
AWS has partnerships with other business process management firms, including IBM, but this appears to be the most advanced partnership AWS has with a systems administration company. The IBM-AWS partnership allows organizations to run IBM Lotus, IBM Information Management and IBM WebSphere in AWS’s Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2). Meanwhile, a variety of other system integration companies, such as RigthScale, enStratus and CloudSwitch, offer gateway services to access AWS clouds through their programs.
