Alcatel-Lucent has launched a new suite of video solutions focused on bringing visual collaboration to enterprise users. The latest solutions combine native Alcatel-Lucent products together with external partners’ infrastructure, applications and end points from SMART Technologies, RADVISION and Lifesize.
Leveraging presence, the new integrated solution is designed to offer end users interfaces with “drag-and-drop” capabilities so employees can contact each other via any device, establishing a video link that includes a face-to-face conversation along with content and collaboration features.

The Visual Collaboration suite includes Web-based video conferencing clients for employee desktops, and a range of solutions that feature infrastructure and dedicated endpoints from RADVISION and Lifesize for small, medium and large conference rooms, and boardrooms.
An interactive whiteboard feature connects participants from conference rooms and remote locations, so all videoconference participants can see what is being written; the new whiteboard feature uses the Alcatel-Lucent “My Teamwork” application with employee workgroup collaboration enabled by SMART whiteboard technology.
Commenting in a statement, Tom Burns, president for enterprise and strategic industries at Alcatel-Lucent, said, “Alcatel-Lucent’s Visual Collaboration suite brings video solutions across the enterprise to a broader range of users, locations and endpoints.”
He continued by saying, “Our strategy is designed to give our enterprise customers choice with a wide range of cost-effective options for video, from working with our valued solution partners to offer joint solutions to delivering embedded video capabilities with our new OpenTouch communications platforms.”
In separate news from Alcatel-Lucent, the company also recently confirmed in a written statement that it is “exploring strategic options” for its Enterprise business “including discussions with third parties.” In the statement, the company also noted that “no decision has been made on the options being explored and there is no certainty that this review will result in any change to the Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise business.”
