Qosmos, a Paris-based provider of network intelligence software based on Deep Packet Inspection (DPI), has received $28.5 million in financing from several European venture firms.
The company said it would use the funding for expansion into the North American and Asia-Pacific markets, to fuel product development and finance potential acquisitions.

In a statement announcing the funding deal, Qosmos chief executive and President Thibaut Bechetoille said, “We look forward to working with our new partners as we accelerate the growth of the company internationally, meet demand for advanced DPI capabilities among solution and equipment providers and explore new use cases for Network Intelligence technology in the telecom, enterprise and cybersecurity markets.”
The company’s flagship ixEngine is designed to provide enterprises with visibility into data traveling through wireless networks via DPI, which is able to identify, extract and query specific information.
According to the company, this helps ensure the effectiveness and integrity of critical enterprise functions such as network traffic optimization, policy management, service assurance, market research and network and data security.
Qosmos said ixEngine and ixMachine probes — passive hardware devices designed to source real-time network data through protocol parsing at core network speeds — allow users to optimize application performance and accelerate time to market.
The company was founded in 2000 by members of the LIP 6 Computer Research Laboratory in Paris.
Qosmos’ latest funding round was co-led by European venture firms DFJ Esprit, Fonds Stratégique d’Investissement and Alven Capital. It’s the company’s first round of funding since 2008.
