The theme for today is “portfolio upgrades” as three companies have recently announced additions and enhancements. BroadSoft has added four new unified communications capabilities, Enterasys (a Siemens Enterprise Communications Company) has announced its OneFabric architecture, and 8×8 has launched a new Web portal.
BroadSoft continues to grow its unified communications (UC) capabilities by adding to features offered through its BroadCloud hosted service delivery platform. The four latest features include:
• BroadWorks BusinessLink — A fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) solution for SIP trunking that extends the features of a PBX to a mobile device.
• BroadCloud Instant Messaging & Presence — A federated service across BroadWorks-enabled service provider networks that allow users to chat individually and in groups.
• BroadWorks Meet-Me Audio Conferencing — A high-definition (HD), scalable and reliable conferencing application.
• BroadCloud Text Messaging — Enables users to send or receive text messages using a fixed-line, work or home number using iPhone, iPad and Android apps.
Enterasys has announced its OneFabric architecture created as a “unified network fabric” spanning from the data center to the wired and wireless edge. OneFabric is designed to facilitate end-to-end enterprise network provisioning by providing consistent performance and enhanced security — all from a single pane of glass. Key to the OneFabric vision, Enterasys is also introducing OneFabric Control Center which includes integration with virtual infrastructure from VMware, Citrix and Microsoft to improve network performance in virtualized data centers. Concurrent with the announcement, Enterasys also unveiled its OneFabric Ready Alliance Partner Program, designed to align best-of-breed technology partners with customer value from the OneFabric architecture.

8×8’s cloud communications offer the ability to dynamically configure systemwide and user preferences online. Its latest expanded capabilities and enhanced navigation are delivered on a new 8×8 Account Manager self-service Web portal. Among the features, the new “Account Manager” offers the ability to: configure and manage user extensions on an individual or group basis for a wide variety of features; create auto attendant profiles, rules and greetings relative to how inbound calls should be managed; upload or make recordings; create call queues; schedule and monitor maintenance and installation tasks; and view monthly phone bills and manage payment methods.
Debbie Jo Severin, 8×8’s chief marketing officer, commented in a statement, “8×8’s new Account Manager makes overseeing the company phone system a breeze with access to significantly more features, settings and capabilities powered by a highly intuitive user interface. We are very pleased to offer our customers this valuable service enhancement and look forward to rolling out additional customer service tools to help them take full advantage of the economic and productivity advantages inherent in our cloud based solutions.”
