Acme Packet and BroadSoft have announced they are teaming to offer an integrated solution for IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) deployments with “IMS Xpress.” The partnership was created to offer existing and potential customers with a lower cost and less complex IMS solution alternative because the integrated IMS components can reduce IMS architectural complexity, simplifying and accelerating deployments.
The companies count hundreds of top-tier carriers between them, but the integrated offer is also designed for carriers who may just be starting IMS deployments but who may need the scale required to support mass-market subscriber counts. The partnership extends beyond technology integration to also include joint business processes for product design, implementation and support.
ANOTHER DEAL FOR BROADSOFT: Enterproid to enable work and personal numbers on one phone
The solution is flexible, supporting both wireline and wireless architectures — an important feature given the number of carriers who are using LTE (Long Term Evolution) deployments as a springboard for simultaneously deploying IMS. It supports Voice over LTE (VoLTE) — a service we have suggested in our annual predictions to be “coming soon.”
Commenting is a statement, Michael Tessler, BroadSoft’s CEO said, “For more than a decade we have been singularly focused on enabling the delivery of modern communications services over IP networks, continuously innovating to ensure our service provider customers can offer the most demanded services, which increasingly includes VoLTE, RCS and a broad range of Unified Communications services. Together with Acme Packet, we are enabling service providers to leverage the power of IMS without the costs and complexity of today’s solutions.”
In a separate announcement, BroadSoft also announced it has partnered with Enterproid to accelerate “bring your own device” (BYOD) mobility, integration the Enterproid platform with BroadSoft’s communications platform. Enterproid’s Divide platform provides a “dual-persona” feature, with the work persona secured and cloud-managed by IT, enabling employees to use and manage their business communications services from a personal mobile device.
