We had a chance this week to sit down for a face-to-face meeting with Ashish Gupta, the CMO at Vidyo, to catch up on the recent events at his company. Vidyo offers a software-based communication and collaboration platform for videoconferencing via an architecture that leverages H.264 Scalable Video Coding (SVC)-based compression technology.
Gupta was upbeat about the video business for Vidyo, noting that billings for Vidyo branded products were up 82% in FY 2011. Vidyo has also been expanding its horizons through partnerships. For example, the company recently announced a partnership with AMD Global Telemedicine Inc. that will integrate Vidyo’s software-based solution with AMD’s telemedicine platform.
Last month, Juniper Networks’ Junos innovation fund participated in Vidyo’s Series D Financing. While specific financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, the investment will help Vidyo increase its go-to-market activities and integrate its videoconferencing products with Juniper’s numerous offerings.

More recently at the just-concluded Infocomm 2012 conference held in Las Vegas, Vidyo announced it will deliver extended interoperability with Microsoft Lync. In his prepared statement, Gupta said, “Extending the VidyoConferencing infrastructure to support Microsoft Lync will deliver multipoint conferencing and interoperability to Lync users at a lower cost than hardware-based legacy systems with up to seven fold savings.”
Also at Infocomm, Vidyo announced a joint effort to integrate Vidyo’s videocommunications platform with Barco’s imaging solutions. The two companies displayed their integration efforts at the conference. The integrated solution offers multi-modal content display with flexible layouts on a single screen — which displays up to 16 high-quality streams totaling 8 megapixels, including ultra-high resolution data sharing up to 3 megapixels.
