* Provides all voice, Internet and data networking over one circuit

Level 3 Communications recently unveiled its Converged Business Network service, targeting enterprise customers with a solution that provides all their voice, Internet and data networking over one circuit.   By using a single circuit, access costs and the complexity of managing multiple services can be reduced. The company’s Converged Business Network features intelligent bandwidth allocation, so enterprise customers can leverage dynamic bandwidth sharing between multiple services. The option is available to enterprises across North America.

Among the services that Level 3’s Converged Business Network option includes are:  Level 3 Dedicated Internet Access (DIA), Level 3 Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network (IPVPN), and Level 3 Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Trunking voice services. Standard packages offer the choice of connection speeds ranging from 1.5M to 45Mbps or Ethernet connectivity with speeds as high as 100Mbps. Level 3 also offers a managed services portfolio that can be combined with the bundles to provide secure remote access, built-in firewall and managed router services.

Level 3 gets about half of it revenues by selling its network capacity and wholesale services to other carriers.  Its large enterprise, federal government and European services make up most of the company’s remaining revenue streams.  The company owns in-building fiber in over 8,000 locations, and it has agreements to use local carrier facilities for last-mile access when needed outside its local service footprint.  The company’s portfolio includes metro and long-haul services, including transport, data, Internet, content delivery and voice.

Commenting in a statement, Sara Baack, senior vice president of Product Management for Level 3, said, “Level 3’s efficient IP, VPN and SIP networks offer enterprises a set of reliable and scalable infrastructures for their critical telecommunications needs, and Level 3’s Converged Business Network ensures that resources are not wasted by combining each of these assets into a series of enterprise-focused bundles.  We are pleased to offer enterprises the chance to optimize their voice, data and Internet services so that they can focus on those core elements that drive their businesses forward.”
