Between this week’s snowstorms and planning for more trade shows next month, we found two excellent reports we’d like to highlight in today’s newsletter.
The first analysis, “Unleashing the Hidden Productivity of Your Mid Size Business,” discusses unified communications as a key component for telework program and was written by Chuck Wilsker, president and CEO of The Telework Coalition. The second report, “Productivity Success Factors for the Mid-Market,” discusses how to gain competitive advantage using the latest conferencing and collaboration technologies and was authored by Blair Pleasant, co-founder of UCStrategies.com. Both pieces were written by Avaya and hosted on Webtorials.com.

Wilsker’s report looks at a “new way of working” for the mid-market, how and why it started, its development and evolution, where it is today, where it’s going, problems and issues that need to be addressed, and why it’s being adopted by an ever-growing number of employers in both the private and public sectors.
He suggests that while our economy can benefit from telework, telework’s importance is misunderstood by organizations worldwide. His analysis looks at how the midsize business approach should differ from both smaller and larger organizations, contending that once you make the midsize business decision to move ahead the time needed to implement can be short as will the time before benefits are realized. The paper also discusses how many organizations have formulated their Policies, Practices, and Procedures (P³’s), needed to appropriate integration and the necessary change management.
Wilsker’s full report can be found here.
In her analysis discussing productivity factors in the mid-market, Blair Pleasant suggests that the mid-market companies (between 100 and 1,000 employees) embrace UC to gain competitive advantage. She contends that this market faces unique challenges that UC and related technologies can help address by solving business problems and by making their business processes more efficient and effective — a similar theme larger organizations have already validated.
The report discusses how both hosted and premise-based options are available, suggesting that companies committed to enabling rich interactions for their workers need to identify and determine how best to implement these technologies in order to maximize their value to the organization. The paper also defines 10 key steps every mid-market company should take as they implement unified communications and collaborative solutions. The full report can be found here.
Our thanks to Avaya for sponsoring this analysis and to Webtorials for making the reports available.
