A report surfaced last week relaying that the iPhone 5 will sport a dual-LED Flash. Such a feature will help produce brighter photographs thanks to more expansive lighting which should obviously help the iPhone be a more useful camera in low light conditions.
Though the original iPhone camera was nothing to brag about, Apple has since made substantial strides with the picture quality on its revolutionary smartphone. The camera quality on the iPhone 4 is nothing to scoff at and is arguably an able-bodied replacement for a dedicated point and shoot. The only downside, however, is that the iPhone 4’s picture quality really takes a steep dive when used in low light conditions.
But Apple’s looking to change that as it strives to take an already solid camera and make it even better. Now it’s already been reported via a variety of sources that the upcoming iPhone will feature an 8 megapixel camera, up from the 5MP sensor the iPhone 4 currently employs. Further, it’s been reported, not to mention evidenced by leaked hardware photos, that the flash component on the next-gen iPhone will be located at the opposite end of the camera from the actual camera sensor. The end result should be reduced red-eye in photos and higher quality shots under low light conditions.
