It’s unlikely Hallmark makes a card for the occasion
Actually, it’s the date – 8/02/11, as commonly expressed here in the U.S. – and it has nothing whatsoever to do with Wi-Fi. Nonetheless, I’m feeling an urge to head for a Starbucks with my laptop.
Meanwhile, back here at Network World, an executive from Qualcomm Atheros is using this calendar quirk as a handy excuse to warn that “today’s Wi-Fi networks are about to be hit by a perfect storm of problems.”
The outlook he paints is so bleak, in fact, that we may never see 802.11 Day again.
(Note: Yes, I realize that it will happen again in the year 2111, but you and I will not be around to see it.)
