A questionable rumor points to Apple releaseing a new Mac product to its lineup before the end of 2012.
It’s a decidedly slow news day for Apple this Monday afternoon. Perhaps everyone is still out looking to purchase the HP TouchPad at firesale prices. In case you missed it, in the wake of HP killing of the HP TouchPad last week, retailers this weekend lowered the price on HP TouchPad units to anywhere from $99 to $120. For a product that originally retailed for $499, that’s an incredible deal.
And as HP currently struggles with its corporate identity, Apple continues to be firing on all cylinders. Strong iPhone, iPad, and Mac sales continue unabated during the doldrums of Summer as everyone waits for the iPhone 5 with baited breath.
And now comes word that Apple might be adding a new product altogether to its product lineup.
A strange rumor emanated out of the Japanese site Macotakara earlier today. The report claimed that Apple is planning to introduce a completely new Mac product that will be completely different from anything else it currently has on the market.
According to anonymous source in Asian supplier company, Apple seems to be preparing project to release new Mac line-up which is absolutely different from current products until end of this year.Though this source does not told in detail, this new Mac line seems to be clearly different products from current ones, so new product name could be given.
This mythical product might be released before 2012.
Intriguing? Sure. Likely? Don’t bet on it.
While Apple did recently indicate at its earnings conference call that it has some neat stuff in the product pipeline, the company right now is undoubtedly focused on issues pertaining to the iPhone 5 and iPad 3. Further, Apple likes to space out its landmark products and with the iPhone 5 not hitting stores until early October at the earliest, the odds of Apple releasing a brand new product that before 2012 seem extremely slim.
Further, it’s important to point out that Macotakara has an inconsistent track record with respect to Apple rumors. While an iPad 2 case rendering it released last December was spot on, they’ve had a number of high profile misses such as when it predicted a flat-paneled iPad 2 and a MacBook Air with high speed 400MBbs flash memory.
