Can’t beat this word for calling in sick
Pneumonia.
No boss or co-worker is going to sneeze at pneumonia.
Beats the heck out of those moaning/hacking phone calls that only embarrass the moaner/hacker (even the genuinely sick ones) and the almost-always skeptical recipient of the call.
Pneumonia renders completely unnecessary tricky phone services such as this one.
Pneumonia generates sympathetic e-mail from co-workers (even the ones who deep down in their hardened hearts harbor just a shadow of a doubt).
Of course, when using the word pneumonia for calling in sick, it’s generally expected that one actually has pneumonia.
I have pneumonia. … No, really, I do; go ask Doc Hoffer.
Pneumonia is why the posts have been light this week. Hope to be back soon.
Right now, though, it’s back to bed. My wife’s out running an errand and she’ll yell at me if she catches me on the machine.
