Cloudera chief scientist, Opscode co-founder make the list
MIT’s always interesting Technology Review 35 Innovators Under 35 list is out, and several innovators in the networking and computing field made the cut (in addition to others in fields such as biomedicine and energy).
Among the communications and computing names:
*Jesse Robbins, who co-founded Opscode, a open source cloud infrastructure automation platform company we’ve written about. Opscode is known for its Chef open source programming language.
* June Andronick, who works at Australia’s national IT research center on technology to ensure that software doesn’t crash — especially software for critical uses such as making sure medical devices and vehicles don’t stop working. Although she also says the technologies she is working on could have applicability to stopping cyberattacks.
* Bhaskar Krishnamachari, from the University of Southern California, who is working on advances in wireless communications. Among the advances are enabling more efficient wireless communications between vehicles exchanging information about traffic conditions.
* Jeff Hammerbacher, chief scientist for Cloudera, a company focused on using open source and other technologies to give users a better handle on huge amounts of data. We tapped Cloudera as one of our 11 open source companies to watch in 2011, and have covered recent news, including new Hadoop management tools.
