An interesting photo surfaced last week that could in fact be the first 8-megapixel photo taken from the iPhone 5.
Apple’s been doing a great job keeping the big iPhone 5 reveal under wraps, but one feature that we can pretty much chalk up as a sure thing is that the next-gen iPhone will sport an 8-megapixel camera.
To that end, an interesting photo surfaced last week that could in fact be the first 8-megapixel photo taken from the iPhone 5.
Originally discovered by PocketNow, the photo description claims that the shot of Sushi above was taken from an iPhone 4 but the EXIF data tells a decidedly different story.
Although the image has been cropped to 2235×2291 (5.12 megapixels), the original picture was a much larger 3264×2448 — or just shy of eight megapixels. What’s more, the lens was recorded as a 4.3mm f/2.4, which is closer to that of a point-and-shoot than the iPhone 4’s actual 3.85mm f/2.8.
Adding even more credence to the photo’s origins is that it was originally posted to a Flickr page belonging to an Apple engineer. What’s more, the photo has since been taken down, which as things go with Apple, is all the proof that’s really needed.
