Meeting to showcase broadband networking's potential for research, education, more
Advanced networking consortium Internet2 is readying for its Oct. 3-6 Fall Member Meeting to take place in Raleigh, N.C., where researchers will highlight the latest advances in using broadband networking to advance research, education and more. For those who can’t attend in person, much of the event will be netcast. “Google, Facebook and other innovations to conduct our personal lives started at universities and research communities with high performance broadband networks,” said Dave Lambert, President and CEO of Internet2, in a statement. “Event speakers and sessions will bring to life how the next generation of broadband technology will impact our lives and the Internet of the future.”Speakers will include Lambert, who plans to make some strategic announcements on Oct. 4, as well as Matthew Szulik, former head of Red Hat Software. Sessions will focus on everything from the NSF’s new Extreme Digital Science & Engineering (XSEDE) project to the future of classroom technology to what libraries are doing techwise.The meeting will be hosted by MCNC, operators of the North Carolina Research and Education Network (NCREN).
