Technology used in night-vision goggles aids quantum computing advance
There’s been an interesting development on the quantum computing front at Rice University in Houston, where physicists have developed what they say could be a way to create the tiny qubits needed to process data much faster than current computers that rely on digital transistors. They’ve built a specialized insulator with a commercial-grade semiconductor found in night-visiion goggles. The insulator could serve as an “electron superhighway” for qubits in such a way that these quantum bits would not be distorted by what’s called quantum fluctuations.
