USDA takes to Twitter for food-emergency announcements

The U.S. Department of Agriculture recently set up state-by-state Twitter accounts through which followers “will receive alerts about recalls of meat, poultry and processed egg products. “

So I checked out the one for New York state to see what type of people are signing up to be first on their Twitter block to know when there’s a salmonella or botulism outbreak. There haven’t been many – 16 so far – but among them are an editor, a fitness trainer and a Web site devoted to all things New York City; pretty much what you might expect.

Then I saw this guy and literally laughed out loud:
