Reopening expected within the hour now
Two items of note as anticipation builds toward today’s big iPad announcement.
First, Apple’s online store has been closed for updating, a step the company has taken before just prior to major unveilings.
Here’s how it looks:

In addition, I have noticed an unusual flow of visitors to a Buzzblog item posted April 7, 2010 and headlined: “Mystery solved: Why time stands still at 9:42 on iPhone.”
That post explained why so many photos of Apple products displayed the time 9:42 a.m., namely because that was about the time Steve Jobs or another Apple executive would show the live audience the gadget in question (not always, but often enough). And the company famous for its attention to detail believed that the time on product being shown the audience should match the time the audience members would see on their watches.
That won’t be the case today, at least as applies to 9:42, because Apple’s big event kicks off at 10 a.m. Pacific Standard Time, 1 p.m. here on the East Coast.
It will be interesting to see if the time on the iPad 3 (or iPad whatever) has been adjusted accordingly.
