Golfer Rory McIlroy takes a swing at Apple's short-time third founder
Professional golfer Rory McIlroy – 22 years old and one of my personal favorites — is ranked number one in the world, has earned many millions of dollars in prize money, and an untold many millions more from product endorsements.
He’s one rich dude.
Yet a couple of days ago McIlroy couldn’t resist taking to Twitter to tweak a guy who in a sense bypassed a chance to be even richer:
Pictured left, Ron Wayne, as you may know, was briefly the third member of Apple’s founding team, along with Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. Woz told me a while back that Wayne actually wrote the legal document that established the first Apple business entity. That document recently sold for $1.6 million at auction.
Wayne has also made perfectly clear over the years that he has no regrets about having stepped away from Apple before it became Apple and made lots of people rich.
As for $58 billion rich? Where McIlroy got that figure is anyone’s guess, but many have pointed out that it seems a tad high, even by Apple standards.
