$1,600 ticket to Apple Worldwide Developers Conference rises to $2,500, but will sale really go through?
The 2012 Apple WWDC website clearly states that tickets (including activation codes) to the sold-out event are “non-transferable and may not be sold, resold, or auctioned in any way,” but that hasn’t stopped at least one entrepreneurial sort from posting a ticket on eBay as so many have done in years past.
The ticket was posted Wednesday, within 2 hours of the Worldwide Developers Conference selling out at about 10:30am EST, and after several hours had risen in price from the face value $1,600 to more than $2,500 by around 1pm EST on Wednesday. In years past, WWDC ticket prices have risen into the $4,000-$5,000 range.
WWDC is the hottest such tech event around, alongside Google I/O, which sold out in about 20 minutes earlier this year. The Apple conference is slated to take place June 11-15 in San Francisco, and typically attracts about 5,000 attendees. Hot topics at the event are expected to be iOS 6.0, Mac OS X (Mountain Lion) and maybe a whiff of iPhone 5 or whatever the next-gen Apple smartphone is called.
