WiFi issues "public apology" after being accused of attempting to gain control of mankind's souls via electron manipulation
endif; ?>Cisco might finally have met its match: A vendor that not only is fighting to win the hearts and minds of carriers and enterprises with its WiFi gear, but according to some also is attempting to control mankind’s souls.
Ruckus Wireless has issued a “Public Apology” in the wake of receiving a letter taking the company to task for a recent video ad in which a passionate preacher tries to convert viewers into true Ruckus believers.
The letter writer in part admonishes Ruckus for a commercial that seems to “hint at a control” of “raw god energy.” A handful more of detractors pile on the Ruckus video on YouTube, with one poster commenting: “Technology is definitely a major signpost down the highway to luciferian hell.”

Ruckus, which is tidying up its house in preparation for what looks like a planned IPO, responds to the “incredibly brave whistleblower”: “Some believe that the brilliant [yet sinister] marketing minds in the industry have manufactured this New World Vision simply to cover up the real reason our companies are pushing for pervasive wireless coverage: spiritual domination. But this is NOT our goal or plan at Ruckus Wireless.”
I caught up with David Callisch, the VP of corporate marketing at Ruckus, while at the CTIA Wireless show in New Orleans this week. Callisch didn’t seem too humbled: he said his public apology post blew away any past ramblings of his on the company’s irreverant The Ruckus Room blog in terms of the number of readers it has attracted.
