OK, maybe it won't become a meme, but been meaning to do one of these forever
One thing we journalists do these days is try to figure out every possible way to present a news story, in an effort to let readers digest the content in their favorite way and to generate as much readership on our site as possible. I basically have a checklist I cruise down: Article? Check. Slideshow? Check. Timeline? Check. You get the idea. Took this approach last year with a package on the tech industry’s biggest honors, awards and prizes, for example.
Anyway, one thing I’ve been meaning to add to the checklist, for better or probably worse, is a “macro image.” You know, those pictures with hilarious (?) sayings on them that sometimes become memes.
I’ve been meaning to create one of these for some time, just for the sake of creating one, and had been forwarded links to a couple of websites a while back that specialize in meme generation, including QuickMeme, which is the one I tried. When a colleague who was visiting the office today saw my MacBook Pro sitting on its original box in lieu of a more official (and undoubtedly pricey) stand, he noted: I have the same stand in my office!
A macro image was born. A meme? That’s up to others.
