Now that the Higgs boson phenomenon has been beaten to death with news articles, opinion pieces, blog posts and continued attempts to make sense of it to us laymen, online magazine Motherboard hit the streets of Brooklyn to gauge the effect of the coverage on the East Coast’s hipster capital. Hilarity ensued.
Answers included: “a building”; “oh, it’s a thing?”; “higgs booton is … a person”; “a famous German entrepreneur”; “sounds like a band or something”; and, perhaps most accurately: “it sounds like magic, and by magic I mean drugs.”
Only one person knew what it was, and when the interviewer asked her how she knew, her apparently stumped companion declared it was because “she’s a nerd.”
