My daughter Emma, a 10-year-old astronomy buff, wouldn’t have missed this morning’s landing of Curiosity on Mars for all of the faraway worlds combined. So Dad set an alarm clock for 1:15 a.m. and we watched: nervous, mesmerized, and ultimately elated.

Congratulations to everyone who played a role, but especially to lead flight director David Oh, his wife Bryn, and son, Braden, who last week shared their story of an associated adventure: living on Mars time here on Earth.
