Apple unleashes 3 new iPhone 5 ads and an EarPods ad for good measure

Late last week, Apple rolled out three new iPhone ads and a new commercial geared entirely towards its new “EarPod” headphones. And narrating the extravangza is none other than Jeff Daniels of Dumb and Dumber and, more recently, Newsroom fame.

First, there’s a commercial dubbed “Cheese,” which focuses on the new Panorama photo feature on iOS 6. Having used Panorama a bit, I gotta say that’s it’s much easier to use than some third-party solutions out there and the resulting product is also superior. My only gripe is that it doesn’t let you take full-360 degree photos, but overall, Apple really hit a homerun with this. And the ad ain’t too shabby either.

The next one, called “Thumb,” effectively takes a potshot at those oversized Android devices that seemingly get bigger and bigger with each subsequent release. And while it may seem like a nitpicky point, try taking a one-handed photo with an oversized smartphone and see how much fun that is. While there is merit in a larger screen, there’s also something to be said for the usability of Apple’s design choice with its display.

Here we have an ad called “Physics” which is essentially just Apple bragging about how the iPhone 5 has a bigger screen, but yet, is miraculously thinner than the iPhone 4S. So much for the laws of physics, the ad coyly states.

And last, and sorta least, is Apple’s commercial for its new ‘EarPods’.  I haven’t given the new EarPods a proper spin just yet, but having endured various iterations of Apple headphones over the years, I can say with confidence that Apple can only improve upon the status quo.
