But that’s not to say that iWatch rumors are completely off the radar. Just this week analyst Wanli Wang of CMB Securities said that Apple’s iWatch will likely launch by the end of 2014. The alleged source for Wang’s information comes from channel checks out in the far east. Wang also anticipates that Apple’s iWatch will retail for $199.
Two leading Taiwanese electronics firms that assemble products for Apple have received orders to make the highly anticipated “iWatch”, an analyst and reports said Wednesday.Apple is likely to introduce ‘iWatch’ in 2014. From our channel checks, Inventec is the major assembly source for ‘iWatch’, with about 60 per cent of order allocation,” said CIMB Securities analyst Wanli Wang in a report.
CIMB projects 63.4 million units of “iWatch” shipments in the year after its launch with an average price of around $199, while the “iWatch” project is estimated to contribute 19 per cent of Inventec’s earnings in 2014, Wang said
While of course no Apple product is ever a guarantee until it’s officially introduced, there’s no denying that the rumblings surrounding Apple’s work on an iWatch type device have grown louder in recent months. What’s more, you might recall that Apple CEO Tim Cook in a semi-recent interview with All Things D dismissed the concept of Google Glass while at the same time noting that the area of wearable technology remained one of profound interest for Apple. You also might remember that Tim Cook during Apple’s last earnings conference call teased the Apple masses when he said that Apple is planning to introduce new and amazing products in the fall of 2013 and across 2014.
Going back to the iWatch for a second, the most recent and believable rumor we’ve seen surfaced back in mid-July when The Financial Times reported that Apple was aggressively looking to hire engineers and other personnel in an effort to shore their iWatch efforts.
