One person who won't be lining up for an iPad Air is Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak.
Apple this week introduced the iPad Air, a thinner and lighter version of its popular flagship iPad. If history serves as any indication, the iPad Air will sell extremely well, especially considering that it’s been more than 12 months since Apple last refreshed its 9.7-inch iPad model.
In fact, Apple retail stores on November 1 will open up one hour early (at 8 a.m., to be exact) to accomodate consumers looking to get their hands on the latest and greatest iPad on launch day.
One person who won’t be in line, however, will be Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak.
While speaking at Apps World in London this week, Wozniak explained that Apple’s new iPad Air simply doesn’t align with his usage model. Funny thing is, Woz isn’t concerned with the device’s performance or even form factor. On the contrary, he’s a man who values a whole lotta storage.
“I am constantly following the gadget world but I was on a plane and missed all of the keynote but when I finally took a look at the devices, the iPads didn’t hit my needs,” he explained.
Talking about the iPad Air he noted: “Yes it’s thinner but I wanted storage. I don’t have broadband at home, so I carry all my personal media in the iPad. So I was hoping Apple has a 256GB iPad.
“So I emailed my wife and said I didn’t want one of those.”
Now, who would have guessed that Wozniak doesn’t have broadband at home?
Macworld was able to add some more information from Woz’s talk, relaying that he wants an iPad big enough to accomodate “every episode of Big Bang Theory.”
For the time being, I’m sure that 128 GB is more than enough for the vast majority of iPad owners.
Chalk this one up to Woz being Woz.
