SMART OFFICE 2.0 Also Announced, Complete with WebRTC UC
Two announcements today from GENBAND: the company has introduced “Generation Enterprise” as a unified communications (UC) solutions framework and in a related product announcement, the company unveiled a WebRTC-enabled UC platform “SMART OFFICE 2.0.”
The Generation Enterprise solutions suite addresses secure communications across multiple devices and networks. It is a framework created for software-based deployment targeting enterprises, governments and universities that includes cloud-based, hosted, or hybrid or solution.
The portfolio encompasses GENBAND’s carrier-class EXPERiUS™ Application Server platform; the QUANTiX™ portfolio (providing security, session management and policy control technologies and a session border controller); the CONTiNUUM™ gateway family; and NUViA™ cloud solutions.
Commenting in a statement on the framework, David Walsh, CEO of GENBAND said, “We designed Generation Enterprise to meet the productivity, ease-of-use and collaboration requirements in an increasingly mobile-driven communications economy.”
He added, “For our channel and service provider partners, Generation Enterprise enables a rapid go-to-market approach for breakthrough standards like WebRTC with value-added, over-the-Internet applications that are ideal for today’s highly mobile workforce.”
In a related announcement, GENBAND’s SMART OFFICE 2.0 was unveiled as an end-to-end UC solution suited for an array of business devices– including WebRTC compliant web browsers. Designed in HTML5, the soft-client provides a WebRTC compliant multimedia user experience for voice, video, conferencing, chat, presence and collaboration features, all through a browser.
The solution allows a user’s business identity (their phone number) to be device-independent. SMART OFFICE 2.0 users can engage in chat, call, video conference or screen share from the location and device of their choice. SMART OFFICE 2.0 can be deployed in a greenfield environment or in concert with traditional PBX hardware, enabling a migration strategy from traditional office phones to smart devices.
