Cloud storage company seeks experience as it prepares for IPO
Box, a cloud-based storage company that’s expected to soon go public, named Cisco CTO and Strategy Officer Padmasree Warrior to its board. Box said Warrior’s experience in enterprise technology and global strategy will help Box manage growth and “realize its mission.”
“We are in the midst of a once-in-a-generation shift to a world defined by cloud and mobile computing,” said Box CEO and co-founder Aaron Levie in a statement. “Padma will be a great resource for both Box and our customers as we navigate this transition.”

Warrior provided Fortune’s Michal Lev-Ram with her reasons for joining Box’s board here. Warrior joined Cisco in 2007 after a run as executive vice president and CTO at Motorola.
As Cisco’s Chief Technology and Strategy Officer, Warrior helps direct technology and operational coordination across the company and oversees strategic partnerships, mergers and acquisitions, and business integration. She helps seed new technologies, and attract and train talent.
Warrior is one of two independent directors on the Box board – former Verisign CFO Dana Evan is the other. Other board members include Box investors, co-founder and CFO Dylan Smith, COO Dan Levin, and board chairman Levie.
