Later tonight, HBO will premiere the first episode of Silicon Valley, a new show that centers on young programmers trying to make it big in Silicon Valley. The show is being produced by Mike Judge (of Office Space fame) and features a few familiar faces, not to mention a few guys — T.J. Miller and Thomas Middleditch — who first made it big in the Improv scene in Chicago.
Now you may be wondering why someone like Mike Judge — who is widely known for his work as an animator and writer on Beavis and Butt-head and King of the Hill — might be qualified to to lend his voice to this type of show, you might be surprised to learn that Judge has a bachelors degree in Physics and actually made the move to Silicon Valley in 1987 to work at a start-up video card company.

All in all, it looks pretty good, and let’s be honest, HBO has a pretty strong track record when it comes to intriguing Television shows.
That notwithstanding, not everyone is pleased with the show. Oddly enough, Tesla CEO Elon Musk took umbrage with the show after a screening event.
Nellie Bowles of Re/Code reports:
“The truth? Is stranger than the fiction,” Musk said. “Most startups are a soap opera, but not that kind of soap opera.” “None of those characters were software engineers,” he continued, building up steam. “Software engineers are more helpful, thoughtful, and smarter. They’re weird, but not in the same way. I was just having a meeting with my information security team, and they’re great but they’re pretty fucking weird — one used to be a dude, one’s super small, one’s hyper-smart — that’s actually what it is.”
