In this week’s video, we take a look at the second of three strategies for acing the TSHOOT exam (642-832). I call these my “TSHOOT Bull’s Eye Strategies.” As a review:
TSHOOT Bull’s Eye Strategy #1: Use Cisco’s Documentation
This first strategy involved leveraging the resources at Cisco’s website in your TSHOOT exam preparation. Specifically, out at Cisco’s website, on the TSHOOT exam page, you can access the EXACT topology that you’ll face on the exam. You can (with appropriate login credentials) get the TSHOOT exam blueprint (a list of potential topics on the exam). Also, there is an exam demo out there that helps get you comfortable with the troubleshooting interface you’ll experience on the exam.

TSHOOT Bull’s Eye Strategy #2: Follow the Path
When faced with a trouble ticket where a client cannot reach a host on the Internet, begin by confirming the client has obtained appropriate IP information (e.g. IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway) from a DHCP server. If it has, start pinging the default gateway and then ever interface hop along the path from the default gateway to the host on the Internet. This helps isolate the device on which you should focus your troubleshooting efforts.
This video leverages Cisco’s exam demo to illustrate an example of the Follow the Path strategy. So, this is a SPOILER ALERT!
