CCIE Barely Preferred over 3 CCxP Certs

This blog post simply serves as an index page to find three posts related to Cisco careers, as posted during September, 2010.

Also, I wanted to make a brief observation about the results of the surveys in the third of these three posts. When examined together, the surveys strike a noticeable contrast about the benefits of going wide vs deep. In particular:

  • 90% (at current counts) preferred deep over wide when comparing CCNA and CCNP. In other words, most thought that going for 1 CCxP cert gave you a better shot at a job than did a total of 4 CCNA certs.
  • 60% preferred deep over wide when comparing CCxP to CCIE. In other words, almost half of us thought that a total of 3 CCxP certs was a better path to get the job than was a single CCIE cert.
