Marks occasion with a birthday cake doodle
It’s difficult to believe that Google isn’t yet a teenager.
The thought occurs upon seeing this morning’s Google doodle, which is a birthday cake marking the company’s 12th anniversary.
Today’s doodle may be an acknowledgement from Google that it has finally settled on an official corporate birthday. Mashable explains:
As far as Google’s birthday is concerned, today’s logo change solidifies the notion that Google’s birthday is, indeed, September 27. Google had previously been unclear about the exact date, sometimes celebrating on September 7, although the Google.com domain was registered on September 15, 1997.

From that inauspicious beginning to today’s Internet giant in a mere dozen years. They do grow up fast.
Today’s doodle is the work of Pop artist Wayne Thiebaud, an American painter whose work focuses on everyday items such as birthday cakes and gum-ball machines.
Earlier this month, Google’s doodle caused a bit of stir with a gum-ball machine effect of its own.
