Will stores need to put the Umi on Black Friday to move the product?
Over the last month I have received many emails talking about the new Umi Home Telepresence by Cisco Systems. While many have talked about the price of the system that they are seeing on the Best Buy’s web page for pre-order ($599.98), others have asked about deals. This is the month for deals with Christmas coming soon and Black Friday is right around the corner. So, will we see a Cisco Telepresence product on sales during Black Friday?
I stopped by a Best Buy Store and asked about Black Friday, I was told that since it is on pre-order they doubt the product would be included. But I was also told you never know. I would think that if the product is not selling and product is sitting on the shelves that deals will be there, the discounts will come. I would not expect the large discounts that business customers see from Cisco, but something far smaller. It will be interesting to see how the product does during the Christmas season. I would think it will be do or die for the product. It might need to wait until the economy and spending picks back up.
