If you head on over to Apple's homepage, you'll see a teaser ad for an "unforgettable" iTunes announcement scheduled for tomorrow morning. I don't want to jump to conclusions here, but the fact that Apple decided that this forthcoming announcement is big enough to warrant home page status is quite telling.

Well this is certainly intriguing. If you head on over to Apple’s homepage, you’ll see a teaser ad for an “unforgettable” iTunes announcement scheduled for tomorrow morning. I don’t want to jump to conclusions here, but the fact that Apple decided that this forthcoming announcement is big enough to warrant home page status is quite telling.
So, what might Apple have in store? Well, Apple isn’t shy about employing double meanings in its ads (i.e Apple’s “Back to the Mac” event which focused on iOS features migrating back to the Mac) so one might reason that “you’ll never forget” has something to do with long rumored claims of a cloud-based iTunes streaming service. And I shoud point out, Apple’s gigantic data center in North Carolina just so happens to be revving up its engines. Another theory is that tomorrow’s announcement might have to do with a subscription based music service. While Steve Jobs has periodically dismissed the utility of “renting music”, it wouldn’t be the first time Jobs and co. have pulled a 180 on us.
Curiously, if tomorrows announcement is that important, why didn’t Apple invite members of the tech press to Cupertino as it so often does? Apple doesn’t tend to set expectations higher than need be, but this teaser ad definitely sets a high bar.
Stay tuned.
