Apple CEO Steve Jobs turns 56 today. Jobs’ influence on technology and the world at large cannot be overstated as the Apple co-founder helped usher in the personal computer era, changed the way we listened to music with the iPod, and turned the entire smartphone industry on its head with the iPhone. He apparently was quite the fashion trendsetter as well – note the popped collar he’s sporting below in this early Apple-era photo with Woz as the two hold an Apple I motherboard.
The Apple CEO is currently taking a leave of absence to attend to health issues. Though he remains involved in the company’s strategic planning, the day-to-day activities have been placed in the trusting hands of COO Tim Cook. Still, Jobs reportedly remains heavily involved in the development of the next-gen iPad and iPhone from his home. Indeed, Jobs was spotted on Apple’s Cupertino campus a few weeks ago and last week attended a hosted dinner with President Barack Obama and a number of other tech heavyweights.
Here’s hoping Jobs returns to the helm at Apple healthy and energetic as ever.
