Allaying the fears of investors while simultaneously exciting Apple fans, Apple earlier this week announced that CEO Steve Jobs will deliver the keynote address at next week’s WWDC conference. Scheduled to kick off on June 6, Apple’s press release divulged that Jobs will unveil OS X Lion, iOS 5, and in a surprise mention, iCloud. What’s interesting is that for a company that’s notoriously obsessed with secrecy and the surprise reveal, it was unusual to see a reference to Apple’s upcoming cloud-based initiative. Rumor has it that that Apple’s already secured licensing deals with all four of the major record companies that will enable users to stream their music from Apple’s servers down to their iOS devices. Ah, the joy of “infinite” storage.

CUPERTINO, California-May 31, 2011-Apple® CEO Steve Jobs and a team of Apple executives will kick off the company’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) with a keynote address on Monday, June 6 at 10:00 a.m. At the keynote, Apple will unveil its next generation software – Lion, the eighth major release of Mac OS® X; iOS 5, the next version of Apple’s advanced mobile operating system which powers the iPad®, iPhone® and iPod touch®; and iCloud®, Apple’s upcoming cloud services offering.
WWDC will feature more than 100 technical sessions presented by Apple engineers.
