Blog gets word out about open source- and cloud-based grid computing service
Globus Online, which makes secure and robust file transfer capabilities available via an open source-based grid computing service, has launched a blog to share the latest about the technology (see the Globus FAQ for the basics).
Globus Online is supported by the Global Alliance, which conducts research and development on grid technologies and standards that enable colloaborative and high performance distributed computing for businesses, research outfits and others. The alliance includes Argonne National Laboratory, the University of Southern California’s Information Sciences Institute, the University of Chicago, the University of Edinburgh, the Swedish Center for Parallel Computers, and the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA).
Early posts on the blog include a profile of an Indiana University professor who has moved more data on Globus Online than anyone else and a piece on how the grid is helping neuroscientists.
