A low-tech salute to the Boston Bruins

My 9-year-olds didn’t believe we were really going to do it, as apparently I’m not the kind of Dad who ushers his children outside near 11 p.m. to bang pots and pans in celebration of the Boston Bruins winning the Stanley Cup.

Early in last night’s game, I told them I did the pot-banging thing as a teenager with my brothers and sister back in 1972, when the Bruins last won it all.

Even after watching me send this tweet – “If the Bruins win (and they’re going to win) we’re all going outside to bang pots and pans. Go Bruins!” – they didn’t think it was really going to happen.

But bang the pots we did … and someday they’ll do the same with their children.

Thank-you, Boston Bruins.
