Demand for Apple's upcoming iPad is exceeding expectations, both in the US and abroad
Gizmodo reports that pre-orders for the iPad in Germany are nearly 4x higher than initially expected.
In Europe, each Apple country orders products from the mothership according to their marketing experience and expectations. According to a reliable source, Apple Germany had ordered only 75,000 iPads. Against all their predictions, they got 250,000 orders.
Meanwhile, US demand for Apple’s latest and greatest device is also exceeding expectations. Earlier this week, Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty wrote an investment note to clients observing that supplier forecasts for the iPad are now falling in the 8-10 million unit range for 2010. Previously, Huberty anticipated 2010 iPad sales to fall somewhere in the ballpark of 5 million units.
Moreover, suppliers now believe that Apple will be able to ship 2.5 million iPads in the first 3 months the device goes on sale – a prediction, which if true, would significantly eclipse Huberty’s initial projection of 750,000 units sold from April-June.
